雙方合作讓電信業者打造高效能、高效率且完全虛擬化的 5G 無線接取網路
NVIDIA (輝達) 今天宣布攜手 Ericsson (愛立信) 共同開發多項技術,讓電信營運商打造高效能、高效率且完全虛擬化的 5G 無線接取網路 (Radio Access Networks; RANs)。這些虛擬化的網路能讓業者更快且更有彈性地推出各種新型態的人工智慧 (AI) 與物聯網 (IoT) 服務。
NVIDIA 創辦人暨執行長黃仁勳於美國洛杉磯登場的世界行動通訊大會 (MWC Los Angeles) 開幕前的主題演說宣布這項合作,雙方將結合 Ericsson 在 RAN 的專業技術,以及 NVIDIA 在 GPU 加速運算平台、AI 與超級運算領域的領先優勢。
各家電信業者正積極探索各種替代技術以及 RAN 架構,以因應市場對於推動虛擬化日漸升高的意願,並確保提供最好的使用者體驗。
與傳統打造 RAN 的方式相比,現今業界面臨的一大挑戰在於如何透過減少成本、空間以及能源的方式,虛擬化整個 RAN 網路。而 Ericsson 與 NVIDIA 的合作旨在透過商業上可行的方式來克服這些挑戰。
Ericsson 與 NVIDIA 的最終目標是將虛擬化 RAN 技術商用化,協助用戶推出各種具彈性的無線網路,並加速推出如擴增實境 (AR)、虛擬實境 (VR) 以及遊戲等新服務。
